For Arizona Diamondbacks fans, the loss of arguably the greatest D-Back in the 22-year history of the franchise, Paul Goldschmidt. Arizona had a very sub-par farm system and had to add some youth which they got back in the former 2nd round pick, Carson Kelly and Starting Pitcher Luke Weaver. Since 2013, Goldy is second in the NL in Hits, Home Runs, RBI’s, Runs, Walks, and extra-base hits. One of the quietest superstars you’ll ever see in his respective sport.
After Goldy finished with 3 strikeouts on Opening Day, he put that to rest when he belted 3 Homers in the second game of the season vs. the Brew Crew. Nobody is talking about what the D-Backs received from the St. Louis Cardinals. Arizona in a battle with division rivals Dodgers in the 13th inning until Carson Kelly corked a bloop double to score Nick Ahmed for the game-winner. A move nobody will talk about for the D-Backs but for one split second, the trade has paid off for the D-Backs. We’ll see what we get from Luke Weaver as a back end of the rotation guy. Long-Term sadness will always be there after losing the face of the franchise.
