NFL Week 3: Huge Storylines This Week Including The Larry Legend Milestone Countdown

Larry Fitzgerald has not had a season with 4+ 40 yard catches since 2011. He has 4 in the first two weeks of this season. The Youth of Kliff Kingsbury and Kyler Murray may have Fitz signing a multi-year deal by the end of this season. Who knows? Fitz has definitely found a new life in this new offense. That happens when you throw the ball 50+ times a game. Fitz may be having a career season but the Cardinals aren’t winning games. David Johnson needs to get reintroduced into this team or it’ll be a long season with a lot of great stats but no wins. Fitz is within 10 catches of moving past Antonio Gonzales for No. 2 All-Time. Leaving, the GOAT, Jerry Rice as the only player to be in front of Fitz. Kyle Allen makes his first start of the season and he got the best of Kyler Murray in College so we’re looking forward to round 2. This is the first weekend in about 15 years that Ben Roethlisberger, Drew Brees, or Eli Manning haven’t started a game. Leaving Mason Rudolph, Teddy Bridgewater, and rookie Daniel Jones to fill those guys shoes. Also in Southern Cal, we have the Watt brothers playing for the first time with JJ and Derek Watt for the Chargers.

Show Us Something Baker… Huge Test Against a Top Team…

This is a giant test to see how good the Browns really are. We get to see two of the most dominant defensive players in the league with Myles Jerret and Aaron Donald. Will Baker, Jarvis, and ODB be able to pick up a part that secondary for the Rams, who haven’t allowed a passing TD this season? Baker has done phenomenal against lesser competition but has really struggled against teams with a winning record so this is a true test to protect the Dawg Pound.

Rosen Going to Lead the Dolphins to Prominence…? Prob Not… Cowboys Win in Landslide…

Dolphins are sitting 0-2 and have done the unthinkable. They’ve benched FitzMagic (Ryan Fitzpatrick) for the nearly emotionally broken Josh Rosen. Rosen has done nothing to deserve this because the Cardinals move up in the draft to take him No. 10 then change their whole philosophy and draft Kyler No. 1 the next year. They trade Rosen to the Dolphins, which is basically the worst form of punishment you can give someone. On top of that, his first start is against the red hot cowboys who are looking to go 3-0. Not a great matchup to give Rosen some confidence.

Brotherly Love in LA… Watt Brothers Going Head-To-Head for the First Time…

Both teams are playing at a high level and both teams have dealt with one loss coming as time expired. A lot of eyes are going to be on JJ Watt and Derek Watt. Derek is the lone Watt brother to play offense so we might actually see a big collision between brothers. Derek is going to be looking to get his facemask into his older brother JJ’s chest to get him out of the way. Which isn’t easy because JJ is a 5-time All-Pro and 3-time Defensive Player of the Year. Injuries have slowed him the past 3 years or so but he is still a monster on the defensive side of the ball. Also, Deshaun Watson and Mike Williams did the impossible together. They dethroned Nick Saban and the mighty crimson tide while playing at Clemson. Their chemistry was unparallelled that season and Watson describes Williams as a “brother”.  Plenty to talk about during this matchup.

Battle of Unbeatens…Mahomes and Lamar Jackson Square Off in Arrowhead…

This is definitely the best matchup of the weekend. Both teams are 2-0 and playing with a ton of confidence. The Ravens have the best defense in the league the past two years while the Chiefs have had one of the top offenses in the league. Lamar Jackson looks to be this seasons version of Mahomes. Taking the league by surprise. I would give the Ravens the edge if the weather conditions continue to be wet and rainy. They will pound it with Mark Ingram and tire out the Chiefs.

Is Daniel Jones Ready for the Bright Lights? Eli Out, Daniel In for the G-Men…

Daniel Jones gives the Giants offense more life and is making his first career start for the Giants. Only the second time Eli hasn’t started a game since coming into the league. As long as he gets the ball out of his hands and gets it to Shaq Barkley he should be able to get by. Getting Golden Tate back week 5 from a suspension will help the young QB.

Kyler and Kliff Looking for First NFL Win Together… This Might Be the Week With No Cam…

Well, I spoke about the Kyler Murray and Kyle Allen connection at Texas A&M and that Larry Fitzgerald is 10 grabs away from No. 2 All-Time. Kyler isn’t much of a stat guy and he’s mentioned that. He would take 2 wins and 200 yards a game rather than no wins and 300 yards a game. He’s a pass-first QB as well, which nobody really thinks about. He has a solid head on his shoulders and we’ll see some wins start to come but they need to pass less and run more. David Johnson was once a top 5 RB in the league and haven’t done anything this year and that is partly the play-calling. The Cardinals need to run the offense through Johnson to open up the passing. Throwing 50 times a game in this league won’t work and it leaves Kyler very exposed to take big hits.

Mason Rudolph and Teddy Bridgewater Leading the Saints and Steelers…

With Ben Roethlisberger needing season-ending surgery, the Steelers look to Mason Rudolph to lead this team with JuJu and James Conner. Mason Rudolph was a 3rd round selection in ’18 draft from Oklahoma State. Let’s see what the youngster has. He’ll need to get the ball to his playmakers and let them do what they do. Run the ball with Conner and get the ball to JuJu and Rudolph might be able to find some success this season. Teddy has been in meaningful games in his career and he’ll need to have a good game with Taysum Hill waiting right next to him. It’s the same situation for Rudolph. Teddy has two fantastic playmakers with Michael Thomas and Alvin Kamara. As long as Teddy doesn’t try to do too much he’ll win some games. Drew Brees will be back this season so Teddy just needs to keep the seat warm for the future Hall of Fame Brees.
