Snub City: Players That Got Hosed on a Pro Bowl Nod

Ryan Tannehill and Calvin Ridley being left off the Pro-Bowl Roster is a Sham. Derrick Henry captures all the headlines in Tennessee but you can’t overlook Tannehill’s 31 TD passes to 5 interceptions on the season. Deshaun Watson needs to be the first man up and Tannehill should be solidified on this roster. The Texans have won 4 games and the Titans have won 10. Did anyone see his performance week 15? 5 Total TDs. 3 passing and 2 rushing with a passer rating over 100. The Wide Receiver group for the NFC is pretty deserving but you can definitely make a case for Ridley over Justin Jefferson. However, the rookie has put together a Pro Bowl season in his inaugural year in Minnesota.

All-Snub Team

Ryan Tannehill has been lights out all season long and have the Titans on top of the division at 10-4. Tannehill has a 110 Passer Rating and can make plays with his legs as well as evidence from his 2 rushing TD game a week ago. With a running attack like the Titans Tannehill doesn’t have to beat teams with his arm. But if the Titans fall behind early he is more than capable of putting up points through the air if the team needs it.

Jordan Poyer was number 2 in total votes for Strong Safety and was left off the AFC roster. Poyer is leading all Safeties with 117 Total Tackles and led fan voting at Strong Safety. Poyer was the victim of a Deandre Hopkins Hail Mary but other than that has had a pretty outstanding season.

Calvin Ridley 100% earned it on the field this season. Playing a lot of the season without Julio he became a reliable number 1 option for Matt Ryan. He has just under 1200 yards receiving and 9 TDs through week 15 and he’s not on the Roster?

Robert Tonyan has 10 TDs from Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers. The NFC starter, Evan Engram, has 1 TD. Not much else to say except “C’Mon Man”. Tonyan has a TD grab in 5 straight games and has more than both Pro Bowl TE’s combined. Engram has 1 and TJ Hockenson for the Lions has 6.

DeForest Buckner has the edge in Sacks, Tackles for Loss, QB Hits, and Solo Tackles over Cam Heyward, Calais Campbell, and Chris Jones. All 3 of them made the pro bowl. Meanwhile DeForest Buckner is the force inside the heart of the Colts top defense and didn’t get selected.

Finally, what would a BigCat post be without some Chargers talk. Besides Tannehill in the AFC, Justin Herbert is putting together some Pro Bowl numbers. Bias? Perhaps. If Justin Jefferson makes it in over Ridley; why not Herbert over Watson. Just like the great QBs in the league, Herbert makes Wide Receivers better. Keenan Allen and Mike Williams were basically used as decoys in Week 15 but Herbert fired it with no hesitation to Jalen Guyton and Tyron Johnson in crunch time. Watch this toss in OT down by 3. Jalen Guyton drops a ball right before this but instead of doubting him Herbert trusted him with this Dime to setup the go-ahead TD run.
